NX-P1000 refers to the ProTalk business-radio family. NX-1000 is a broader Kenwood platform name used across additional models and configurations. Do not assume that every NX-1000 radio uses the same digital format, frequencies or accessories. Treat the exact product listing and your existing system's settings as the basis for a match.

Should we choose UHF or VHF?

For an existing fleet, match the band's actual operating frequencies first. UHF and VHF radios cannot talk directly to one another. For a new system, UHF is often considered for buildings and VHF for open outdoor areas, but neither description guarantees coverage. Building materials, terrain, antennas and the channel plan all matter.

What does digital change?

Analog and digital describe how the radio carries voice. Digital equipment must also match the correct format and settings. NXDN and DMR are distinct formats; buying a radio described only as “digital” is not enough to establish compatibility. The NX-P1300NUK and NX-P1200NVK listings above offer NXDN and analog operation. A migration plan can specify which channels and users need each mode.

How should we choose 2W or 5W?
