Can the NX-1700HDVK communicate with handheld radios?

Yes, when they use compatible VHF frequencies and the same analog or DMR settings. VHF and UHF radios cannot communicate directly with one another. We can help confirm compatibility.

Does this version include DMR or NXDN?

This listing is the DMR digital and analog version. Do not assume NXDN operation is included; contact us if your fleet requires NXDN or a protocol change.

Can I use this radio as a base station?

Yes, with an appropriate regulated DC power supply, external antenna, cabling, and mounting arrangement. This is a mobile-radio kit, not a complete plug-in base station. Ask our team to help specify the additional equipment.

Coverage depends on antenna type and placement, terrain, buildings, interference, programming, and any repeater system in use. Transmit power alone does not determine range.
